“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature -- the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.”

― Rachel Carson, Silent Spring

Hope is the Thing With Feathers

Hope is the Thing With Feathers

We have a pair of Eastern Phoebes building a nest on one of the shelves we provide for them today. The female chooses the materials so deliberately as she constructs her work of art with mud, moss and leaves. Watching the circle of life continue in the natural world always gives me a deep sense of hope and peace. (This is obviously an older photo as I do not disturb birds during their crucial nesting period).

Hope, it’s the thing with feathers.
